Bali arrival checklist: All Indonesia card, visa on arrival, tourist levy and your phone

Three things are done online before you land, all on Indonesian government sites ending in go.id: the arrival card, the visa on arrival if you need one, and the Bali tourist levy.

All Indonesia arrival card

Since 1 October 2025 every traveller arriving in Indonesia fills in the All Indonesia arrival card, which combines the immigration, customs, health and quarantine declarations. Submit it within the three days before you arrive.

Australia's Smartraveller has warned about look-alike sites charging a fee to fill it in. The official addresses end in go.id.

Visa on arrival or e-VOA

Singapore, Malaysia and other ASEAN passports can visit visa-free for 30 days, without extension. Most other passports, including Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US, need a visa on arrival, which you can buy in advance as an e-VOA on evisa.imigrasi.go.id and pay by Mastercard, Visa or JCB. Check the current fee and the list of eligible passports on that site.

Bali tourist levy

Foreign visitors pay IDR 150,000 per person, once per visit to Bali. It's cashless only: pay online in advance on Love Bali or at the airport or port counter, by card, bank transfer or QRIS. Holders of KITAS, KITAP and student visas, among others, are exempt.

Does your phone need IMEI registration?

Indonesian Customs says travellers roaming on a foreign SIM don't need to register their phone's IMEI. Registration is for phones used with an Indonesian SIM: for stays under 90 days it's done at the operator's store.

A travel eSIM like the Indonesia eSIMs here is a foreign SIM roaming in Indonesia, so you can use it without that step.

Data on arrival

Grab, maps and messages all need data the moment you land, and airport Wi-Fi can be slow. Install the eSIM at home; most plans only start counting when they first connect in Indonesia.

Cross-border QRIS payments currently work with apps from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and China. Australian bank apps aren't on that list, so bring a card.
